However, we do not allow pets in the pool area. While soaking in the hot springs, you are welcome to place your dog into the outdoor kennel area. This is a large kennel with shade. Please remember to bring plenty of water for your dog as well as a lock for the kennel if you feel you need one. The kennel is located in a separate area then the pools, next to Day Parking. While staying overnight, please crate your dog, or other pet, while you are not in your room or yurt.

According to Colorado law, there are differences between service animals and assistance or companion animals:

  • Service Animal – This is defined by federal and Colorado law as a dog (or miniature horse) that has been individually trained to perform a specific task or service for a person with a disability.  A service animal is considered an extension of a person with a disability and is allowed in any place that is open to the public.  A service dog can only be excluded from a business or public place if it is out of control or not housebroken.
  • Companion or Assistance Animal – Companion and assistance animals are a product of federal and state laws regarding housing and are defined as animals that help a person with a disability alleviate one or more symptoms of their disability while in their home.  This can include a dog that barks when the doorbell rings to assist a person who has a hearing impairment or a cat that provides a person with bipolar disorder a reason to get up in the morning, take her medicine and go to work.  Only people with disabilities are entitled to have companion animals and even then, companion animals are only allowed in a person’s home.  Business owners and other places of public accommodation are not required to allow companion or assistance animals into their businesses.

Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa follows Colorado law and allows service animals into public spaces, as long as they are not out of control and are housebroken. However, emotional companion or assistance animals are not allowed into most public areas, such as the bathhouses or the pool area. We do have pet friendly accommodations available. While booking your reservation, let us know if you plan on bringing a pet and we can assist you further.

The Labyrinth is located on the west side of the yurts. It is sometimes referred to as a maze. However, a maze is a puzzle with choices of path and direction, while a unicursal labyrinth has only a single path to the center. A labyrinth presents no navigational challenge. The Joyful Journey labyrinth is modeled after the Chartres Cathedral near Paris, France, with eleven circuits for walking/mindful meditation purposes.  Please do not add, remove, move rocks, or create rock art, anywhere inside or outside the labyrinth. We have the utmost respect for the natural beauty of the area and find great joy in that it can be enjoyed by all who visit, while at the same time remaining undisturbed.

Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa takes great pride in our geodesic dome greenhouse, which produces flora throughout the year. In addition, as an overnight guest, you may be served some of our homegrown herbs and greenery during meals. The greenhouse is open for you to tour and enjoy, with the following guidelines:

  • No dogs are allowed in the greenhouse. There is a hitching post outside the greenhouse for you to tie your dog’s leash.
  • Do not touch the plants or the insects. If you see an interesting insect, photograph it, but please don’t touch it. Some insects are there on purpose and we need them to stay there. Those that we are trying to remove, also need to be left alone.
  • If you have questions about something you see in the greenhouse, please let us know.

JJHS is a place of true relaxation and connection to the self. My husband and I first journey’d together to the springs as a dating couple. The experience of staying in the yurt together and looking up at the stars at night was the beginning of forever. I believe JJHS is a place of magic and a great place to find yourself and what dreams wait in the stars.
