Children under the age of five are not allowed in the pools. If visiting with children under the age of five, there is a ‘baby pool’ available, which can be filled with water straight from the hot springs.
Children under 12 are not allowed in the pools without adult supervision.
Pets are welcome on the property as long as they are leashed. However, we do not allow pets in the pool area. While soaking in the hot springs, you are welcome to place your dog into the outdoor kennel area. This is a large kennel with shade. Please remember to bring plenty of water for your dog as well as a lock for the kennel if you feel you need one. The kennel is located in a separate area then the pools, next to Day Parking. While staying overnight, please crate your dog, or other pet, while you are not in your room or yurt.
According to Colorado law, there are differences between service animals and assistance or companion animals:
Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa follows Colorado law and allows service animals into public spaces, as long as they are not out of control and are housebroken. However, emotional companion or assistance animals are not allowed into most public areas, such as the bathhouses or the pool area. We do have pet friendly accommodations available. While booking your reservation, let us know if you plan on bringing a pet and we can assist you further.
The yurts offer a comfortable and fun overnight stay. Many people refer to sleeping in yurts as ‘glamping’. We offer different style beds, including single queens and multiple twin beds. Each yurt is fully furnished with bedding, blankets, a table, chairs and a heater. During the warm season, they also are furnished with a fan. Watch the stars while you fall asleep with a featured sky light, available in most yurts.
The tipis offer a unique way to camp. Each tipi comes with four padded, twin cots and can sleep up to four people. Bring your own bedding and camp gear! Now you can ditch the tent and camp in style.
The Labyrinth is located on the east side of the yurts. It is sometimes referred to as a maze. However, a maze is a puzzle with choices of path and direction, while a unicursal labyrinth has only a single path to the center. A labyrinth presents no navigational challenge. The Joyful Journey labyrinth is modeled after the Chartres Cathedral near Paris, France, with eleven circuits for walking/mindful meditation purposes. Please do not add, remove, move rocks, or create rock art, anywhere inside or outside the labyrinth. We have the utmost respect for the natural beauty of the area and find great joy in that it can be enjoyed by all who visit, while at the same time remaining undisturbed.
Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa takes great pride in our geodesic dome greenhouse, which produces flora throughout the year. In addition, as an overnight guest, you may be served some of our homegrown herbs and greenery during meals. The greenhouse is open for you to tour and enjoy, with the following guidelines:

Yes, use of the dry sauna is included with pool access.

Joyful Journey is the real deal when it comes to a Colorado hot springs experience. While the rooms are lovely, I like the camping and to sleep out underneath those countless stars in the San Luis Valley. Wowser!
One of my best friends and I had a long girl’s weekend at Joyful Journeys. We stayed in a yurt and it was wonderful! The yurt was clean, comfortable and so cute! The beds were very comfortable and the views outside were fantastic. The grounds themself are beautiful, and we enjoyed spending time exploring the greenhouse, the meditation hill, and the labyrinth. The bathrooms were clean and well kept, as well as the locker rooms. The pools were clean and perfect temperatures, and the set up is great. I love that they have varying temperatures in the pools and the deck set up is spacious and clear of clutter so you can move around. The staff was also awesome, everyone single person I came in contact with was super nice and accommodating. The meals were very good and I love that they provide both breakfast and dinner. We had such a great time exploring the area during the day and soaking in the evening. Highly recommend!
Joyful Journey is a beautiful place. There is a sand dune and mountain view at the quiet pool that increases the relaxation provided by the hot water.
Our room was spacious with seating toward the court yard and a private patio facing south toward the wilderness.Meals were heathful with greens, protein and grains offered for every meal -strawberries and greens salad were offered at breakfast!
The massage therapist, Georgia, provided one of the best massages I’ve experienced! She is skilled, sensitive and very professional.
If you love to be surrounded by happy, relaxed people you will love this place!
This place is dreamy. Nice bath and lockerooms. Staff were very kind and helpful. The ambiance was amazing with the fires by soaking pools and the mountains in the distance. The polar plunge was a great experience. I highly recommend it!
One of the most beautiful hot springs I’ve been to, and I’ve been to many. Quiet space, amazing views, staff is lovely, great breakfast. My whole family loves it. We’ll come back.
She (Rita, massage therapist) has great energy and spirit. Very mindful. Knows exactly what she is doing. We’ll be back. Will make it an annual trip.
It was lovely to meet you this past weekend. My husband Mike and I had such a wonderful time basking in the glorious sun and water. Our first trip together was to Joyful Journey in 2013, that year it was -30 and we were in a Yurt. Brrr, it was cold but we enjoyed it so much we have returned once or twice a year every year since. We usually come in January around our wedding anniversary. This year 2021 we celebrated 7 years of marriage with you all. It’s been fun to watch JJ grow with the addition of yurts, the labyrinth, dinner and the classes this year. We enjoyed the stained-glass class very much. Joyful Journey never let’s use down. Food is excellent, the water is wonderful and the view amazing. Team members are friendly and rooms are always clean and enjoyable. I don’t see much you all could do better. Thank you for providing us a happy place to get away, reconnect and relax.
