There is something magical about the moment the seasons begin to turn.
The days grow a little shorter. The evenings carry a familiar chill. The mountains begin to trade their summer greens for gold, amber, and rust, and the rhythm of the valley seems to slow down.
Autumn has arrived in the San Luis Valley—and at Joyful Journey, we see it as an invitation.
An invitation to pause.
To breathe a little deeper.
To let go of what no longer serves us.
And to make space for the season ahead.
As we look toward winter and all the snow it may bring to the mountains, there is no better time to discover one of our favorite cold-weather experiences: soaking outdoors while the world around you turns quiet and white.

There is a special kind of joy in slipping into warm mineral water when the air is cold.
Your body settles into the warmth while your face meets the cool mountain air. Steam rises from the pools. The surrounding landscape becomes still. And when snow begins to fall, something almost dreamlike happens.
You can sit beneath an open sky while snowflakes drift around you, watching them disappear into the warm water.
It is one of those experiences that is difficult to describe until you have felt it for yourself.
At Joyful Journey, our geothermal mineral waters offer a natural place to slow down, relax, and reconnect with yourself and the landscape. As the temperatures drop outside, the warmth of the pools becomes even more inviting.
Perhaps this autumn is your invitation to experience winter soaking for yourself.
Come for the water.
Stay for the stillness.
And let the season unfold around you.
Last month, we introduced you to a few of the special spaces that make Joyful Journey more than just a place to soak. As autumn invites us inward, these spaces become wonderful places to pause, reflect, and reconnect.

The Buddha Garden offers a quiet space for contemplation and stillness.
After soaking, take a few moments to wander through the garden. Notice the details. Feel your feet beneath you. Breathe. Allow yourself to be present rather than rushing toward the next thing.
Sometimes the greatest benefit of a retreat isn’t doing more.
It’s simply giving yourself permission to be still.

Our Joyful Wall is a reminder that joy can be found in the small things—the people we love, the experiences that nourish us, the beauty around us, and the moments that make us smile.
Take a moment to visit the wall during your next journey.
Perhaps add your own bit of joy.
Perhaps simply stop and notice what is already there.

Autumn is a natural season for reflection, and our labyrinth offers a beautiful way to slow your pace and turn your attention inward.
Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a single winding path toward the center and back out again. There is nowhere to get lost and no need to hurry.
Walk slowly.
Breathe deeply.
Let your thoughts settle.
You may be surprised by what becomes clear when you simply give yourself the space to walk.
As the seasons change, so does our menu!
Beginning this month, we are introducing changes to both our breakfast and dinner offerings, giving you even more ways to make your visit a full Joyful Journey.
And for those planning an evening soak, please note our breakfast and dinner hours:
Whether you’re joining us for a nourishing meal before an evening soak or warming up with dinner after spending time in the pools, we look forward to welcoming you to the table.

Women across time and cultures have gathered in circles as a form of resistance, celebration and healing. We have gathered at our moon time, to mark time, to celebrate life, to perform ritual, to knit, to sew, to read, to dance, to laugh, to cry, to hold one another, to heal ourSelves… to heal the world. Now more than ever we need the magic of the circle… the world needs the magic of the circle.
Immerse yourSelf in magic: exploring ways to nurture your inner magic and the power of connecting deeply with a sacred circle of sisters, our Mamma Earth, and the waters that flow through Her.
What we heal in the center of the circle is reflected in the whole circle.
Lets weave a circle of magic into being!

On August 6, 2026, Always Azul Pottery, a beloved local business in Villa Grove, Colorado, suffered a huge and devastating fire that destroyed the retail shop, the warehouse and even the owners’ residence. As if that loss were not enough, fire mitigation uncovered asbestos in the old building, creating major additional cleanup costs. While the owners do have insurance that will help cover much of the building and inventory, it will not cover the full cost of recovery. These unexpected expenses have made an already heartbreaking situation even more difficult as they work toward rebuilding. The clean up costs will topple $250,000. Alan is carrying the bulk of the remediation cost himself. The goal isn’t the whole bill, it’s the push that gets the crew on site and keeps this moving. And if we get there, it doesn’t just clear rubble. It’s what makes rebuilding the retail store possible.
This fundraiser is asking for support to help Always Azul Pottery recover and restore this beautiful landmark. Donations will go toward asbestos cleanup and other essential costs that insurance will not cover, helping the owners take the next steps forward. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, will mean so much. With the community’s help, Always Azul Pottery can begin to restore not just a business, but a piece of Villa Grove’s heart and spirit. The pottery wheel can turn again, help us get there !!!
