I celebrated my 50th birthday with a solo retreat at Joyful Journey. It was ABSOLUTELY my BEST birthday celebration to date! The stunning natural beauty fed my soul. The crystal yurt was warm and lovely. The hot springs were quiet and healing. I had the best massage EVER. The meals were simple and healthy, and the staff was so friendly! This hot springs spa is magical! Thank you Joyful Journey for making my 50th birthday so incredibly special.

This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The accommodations are great, we stayed in a yurt and really enjoyed it. While the temperature outside was -3, it was more than comfortable inside with the heater. The hot springs are delightful and vary in temperature depending on the pool you’re using. Considering food and all of the accommodations included I have to say this is a great value for a family or couples trip. TLDR: 10/10 would recommend

Go to the Yoga! The instructor (Nancy) is the best! 💖 I had a wonderful morning! 8am yoga class, followed by a lovely breakfast, followed by soaking in the springs and soaking up the mountain views. Afterwards, I explored their geodesic dome greenhouse. (It was so cozy! It had such good vibes!) And then mindfully walked the labyrinth and had a little picnic lunch on Meditation hill. I can’t think of a more perfect day trip away from reality.

Love this place. The grounds keeper was awesome. He takes such good care of every detail, really appreciate the effort he puts into each plant in the greenhouse. The greenhouse is truly a treasure.

My wife and I love this place! The staff is very nice and seem happy to be there. The yurts are fun, and the food is wonderful. What a great value. In our experience, the pools always had plenty of room and felt welcoming. We'll be back!

Scott D

This place just keeps getting better. 3 pools at different temps, cold soak and a couple hot tubs. For the price the rooms are great and food isn’t bad either! Will obviously be going again.

Every single detail - from large to tiny - about our stay and about this place was magickal! We WILL be back again and often. I love this valley, I love the Great Sand Dunes, and this place has become the icing on top of the cake for me! Thanks to the staff and a great facility, we had an absolutely perfect soak and stay under the full moon and the beautiful San Luis Valley skies!

M C

Great spot to go to for a relaxing time spent soaking with beautiful mountain views. Please note: The woman at the front desk is the nicest and most welcoming staff member, so get help from her when checking in! It'll make your experience better.

Our family loves this place. “There’s mushrooms and all kinds of stuff. The lady in the kitchen (Tamara) is amazing.”-Tommy age 6

Joyful Journey Hot Springs is hands down my favorite hot springs in the valley! Every visit feels like a warm embrace, thanks to Nancy and the incredible crew. They always go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed beyond belief. The serene atmosphere, coupled with their genuine hospitality, makes each trip a rejuvenating experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a blissful escape! 🌟🌿💧

We camped with our 5th wheel. Great host and very clean grounds. The hot area and bathrooms are spotless. Very convenient to shops and restaurants just a quick walk from the trailer. Go and enjoy your day or week. We'll be back.

One of my best friends and I had a long girl’s weekend at Joyful Journeys. We stayed in a yurt and it was wonderful! The yurt was clean, comfortable and so cute! The beds were very comfortable and the views outside were fantastic. The grounds themself are beautiful, and we enjoyed spending time exploring the greenhouse, the meditation hill, and the labyrinth. The bathrooms were clean and well kept, as well as the locker rooms. The pools were clean and perfect temperatures, and the set up is great. I love that they have varying temperatures in the pools and the deck set up is spacious and clear of clutter so you can move around. The staff was also awesome, everyone single person I came in contact with was super nice and accommodating. The meals were very good and I love that they provide both breakfast and dinner. We had such a great time exploring the area during the day and soaking in the evening. Highly recommend!

I love this place for a weekend soak without any hassles. You're very calm and peaceful place and I find the staff to be likewise. They have typical motel rooms but no television again they want to encourage the contemplative relaxation. They also have Yurts and you can camp there. If you stay any of these ways it includes two meals per day! In the meals are very well done thoughtful and usually have a vegetarian or vegan option.

Marsha Miller

So love the hot springs! Excellent price for s soak, can walk the on-site Chartres replica beautiful labyrinth, surrounded by mountains with beautiful views.

This is the real deal people; I just had knee replacement surgery. Heard from my physical therapist that the mineral waters in these hot springs are no joke. Various temperatures for your comfort and enjoyment. No body shaming, ladies, just healing. Nancy will give you a personal tour. So welcoming. You can feel the tranquility as you arrive in the parking lot. They have a meditation walk and a labyrinth. Have pets. No problem. They have kennels on site. Need a place to stay: they handle that as well. Choices include cottages, yurts, Tipis and RV & Camping Sites. Going back this weekend to take advantage of the spa packages including massages, body scrubs and reflexology. Ask for Sandy. She will handle the bookings for you with such care and professionalism you will feel you have your own personal travel agent. Can't share enough about this beautiful location with awesome options.

Dan Brettner

Super relaxing with beautiful views! For anyone is a EV, they do have low wattage chargers for free!

Brian Bird

This place is amazing! Lodging options include hotel rooms, yurts, teepees, tent sites, and rv sites with and without electric (50 amp but no sewer or water). The two of us got an rv spot with electric for $150 plus $10 for our dog. That included meals (tasty, filling dinners and breakfasts), two all-day soakings (the day you get there and the day you leave - you need to vacate your spot by 11 a.m. but can stay in their day use lot). Beautiful grounds with 3 different temp flow-through mineral pools, two hot tubs, a cold plunge, and a dry sauna. Plus a maze, greenhouse, and several places to meditate (hill and teepee). All the employees and guests were super friendly. Close to Crestone and the Great Sand Dunes. Highly recommended!!!

Joyful has been a sanctuary for me for years! The peaceful vibe reminds me of a Buddhist monastery I spent time in in northern Thailand. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The homemade meals are delicious and obviously made with the love. And last but certainly not least, their yoga teacher Nancy is one of my all-time favorites. She really puts the joy in joyful. Her classes are approachable and fun and she is just so loving and kind. They’ve also made a ton of improvements in recent years! I hope to continue to enjoy this space for years to come! This place was about 8 minutes from our Airbnb and after a day sand boarding at the Dunes and hiking Zapata Falls, was the PERFECT end. Smaller pools, and we locked up and got one of the jacuzzi style ones to the 3 of us and our son (14) was in heaven. You could see the Milky Way if you turned off the tub lights. 🥰 We enjoyed this so much better than Glenwood Springs. Cheaper, cleaner, less people, no sulfur smell, better views. Highly recommend! Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly

Private soak was great, if a bit spendy, but you can't put a price on silence. Staff was very helpful and the facility was clean. The tub reminded me of Salida, without the municipal pool vibe.

I love this place. Very chill, incredible water for soaking, yummy food. We got a room and had a sweet back deck with hummingbirds flitting about. Pure magic!

I have been here twice now and enjoyed it both times. Last year I enjoyed a massage which was delightful. Both years I enjoyed many hours in the hot springs, using the hot sauna and taking the polar plunge. One of my favorite things is the access to breakfast and dinner and I have only had one bad meal here and it was easily not the worst. The staff is kind and helpful. There are many sites on the property such as the meditation tipi, meditation labyrinth and the last time I was there they were in the process of building something else. I highly recommend stopping by and enjoying the space and all it has to offer.

I can't sing high enough praises about this place. We wanted to stay somewhere reasonably close th the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This seemed like a good option, even though it is about 35 min away, and I had never stayed in a Yurt before. We (myself, wife, son (16), and daughter (12)) had a great time. The mineral pools were relaxing, quiet, and soothing. The room was peaceful, with a GREAT view of the mountains. There was a peaceful, meditative labyrinth. And don't get me started on the food! I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and Bed&Breakfasts. This was the best. Breakfast and Dinner is truly restaurant quality, made to order, and brought to you by the kindest and friendliest staff you will EVER meet. I'm not gonna name names, because I would leave out all the names I didn't get, that were as amazing as the ones I did. EVERYONE here is incredible!!! We will 1000% be back telling everyone that this is the place to come to "get away from it all"!!!! Rooms: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Rooms: Quaint, and simple. Everything you need. Nothing you don't. Peaceful!!!!!! Nearby activities: Zapata Falls, Great Sand Dunes, Salida. Food & drinks: Made to order Breakfast and Dinner. Lots of places within driving distance for lunch. Noteworthy details: If you are looking for "high end" this isn't it. You come here for peace, friendly people, escape, nature, views, calm, quiet! I love this pace!!! What am incredible experience! The view, the view, the view! Friendly staff. Hot and clean pools. I stayed in a yurt, which is a lovely experience. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway..

We love Joyful Journey for its awesome pools of various temperatures and for the cleanliness of the pools, etc. Also for the great breakfast and dinners they serve. As vegans we usually don’t have such an easy time ordering food. But here it’s either plant based or not. Your choice. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We’ve only tent camped or been in our camper so we can’t comment on the sleeping facilities. Service: 5/5 Location: 4/5

So to start with, this place is definitely a nice neutral spiritual grounds for all people to find some connection with the earth. Kudos. The service, it was great. The girl at the front desk who literally smiles every time you walk by was always a great energy to cross paths with. Watched the sunrise over the mountains this morning while doing my daily Tai chi routine. The qi was everywhere and filling the air. I love it here and am actually considering purchasing property in the area because of the great community this place has to offer. Yoga classes and the other spiritual practices. I'd love to teach Tai chi classes here. I couldn't pick a more ideal venue. The yurt was my go to this time, a friend and I had a great time making this our home for 3 days. And the chefs. Talk about care for your food. Let's make a place like this an example and teach the world to embed good energy in all you do. 🙏 May all beings be free from suffering , may they be happy, may they be healthy, may they live with ease in this space. 🙏 Rooms: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Nearby activities: Sand dunes which I want to come back and see very soon when I can plan for it! The spas are honestly my favorite, from the ice plunge bath to the three different underground hot springs and two above-ground springs. The hottest spring is in the quiet area, and you'll find inner peace so fast. The mountains and sand dunes in the background really seal the deal on this hot spring. If you’re out here to visit the Great Sand Dunes definitely make a stop at Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa. Decent price for a day soak or spoil yourself and stay the night and let them cook for you.

We stopped en route home from Alamosa and enjoyed 2 hours soaking in the pools. Very very relaxing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Setting is spectacular. We look forward to spending a few night in a yurt or one of their rooms when we return to the San Luis Valley. Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5
