Ways We May Conserve

This September will mark the 36th annual Crestone Energy Fair. What a great time to discuss ways we may save and conserve energy. 

I searched the internet extensively to find simple options and solutions for conserving energy.  Here at Joyful Journey Hot Springs, we incorporate these practices.

I strongly urge you to visit the Crestone Energy Fair, to learn more about building sustainable living spaces! 

Electricity:

• Turn off the lights when not needed.
• Unplug unused cords.
• Utilize opening curtains to add real light to the space. 
• Add solar power.
• Use energy-efficient lightbulbs. 
• Use green LED lights for growing (green does not affect photosynthesis). 

Heating and Cooling:

• Good insulation is key.
• Add a wood-burning stove. 
• Consider multiple sources of heat, including solar.
• Consider a “swamp cooler” for cooling. 
• Hang your laundry outside to dry.

Water:

• Stay present to water usage. Turn off faucets while not in use.
• Use cold water to wash clothes.

These are just some of the simple suggestions to follow to help save energy usage!
