A chill has come into the air as we quickly slip from the heat of summer into the cooler temperatures of autumn. Higher up on the mountains, you can already see some of the leaves beginning to turn from their summer green to shades of gold. The rumors of a harsh winter are beginning to feel a little more believable with these recent changes.

The owner and guardian of these healing waters, Elaine Blumenheim, recently visited Meditation Hill to set her intentions and make an offering for the remaining months of the year.
When you book a stay with us, or simply come to soak, we invite you to visit Meditation Hill as well. This beautiful and sacred space is home to the Joyful Wall, the Buddha Meditation Space, and the labyrinth.

The Joyful Wall is a four-sided, diamond-shaped pavilion representing the four directions and elements. The wall serves as a memorial space where each visitor has the opportunity to leave a personal memory. Its theme and purpose are simple: to promote and spread joy. After all, joy is contagious.
Each side of the pavilion features enclosed, bulletin-board-style walls where visitors can share notes or pictures expressing gratitude. Each board has a box for storing blank and completed notes or images. Along with these walls of memories, the structure also has benches where you can sit, reflect, and truly take in the messages of happiness surrounding you.
One way to participate is to sit quietly on the bench and reflect upon the question:
“What makes me feel joyful?”
This process alone can be a gift to embrace. Once you have your answer, simply write it down on the provided paper. If you have a picture or image you wish to leave along with your note, simply place it in the box. The Joyful Journey staff will collect the notes and pictures and place them on the enclosed boards.
As the boards fill, one beautiful way to connect with joy is to read the notes and take in the wonderful memories captured within the images.
Everyone is invited to visit the Joyful Wall. We simply ask that all who enter do so with respect and reverence for this special space.
A small chart about the four directions, which may assist you in your meditations, is displayed on the pedestal just in front of the pavilion.
Our wish is that you enjoy this beautiful and sacred space, finding peace, calm, and joy.

The Buddha Meditation Space sits just beyond the Joyful Wall. In the roofless temple, the Buddha sculpture faces east toward the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, honoring the direction and source of the Buddha’s lineage and wisdom.
Facing east during meditation aligns your practice with the rising sun, symbolizing awakening, clarity, and new beginnings.
You’re encouraged to step into the center of the temple, facing any direction you choose, and find the center of your awareness. From there, you can visualize your energy rolling outward into the earth, like circular waves moving across water—or like the rings of a raindrop expanding across a still pond.
Feel free to sit and meditate wherever you’d like. Practice yoga or Qigong. Dance, laugh, chant, or sing. Or you may simply feel called to relax, lean back on the earthen mounds, and gaze up into the sky.
There is no right or wrong way to experience this space. Allow yourself to be present and see what calls to you.
Before departing Meditation Hill, be sure to visit our labyrinth, which is modeled after the labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral near Paris, France. With eleven circuits, it offers a beautiful opportunity to slow down and complete your healing journey through walking meditation.
Our labyrinth was designed especially for us, and a lovely retreat group built it over Easter weekend in 2017. It continues to be a place for quiet reflection, contemplation, and meditation.
As you walk, we ask that you please leave the rocks and stones where they lie, allowing the labyrinth to remain undisturbed for those who come after you.
Whether you visit the Joyful Wall, sit quietly with the Buddha, walk the labyrinth, or simply pause to take in the mountains and sky, we hope Meditation Hill offers you a moment to slow down, reconnect, and find a little more peace, calm, and joy.

There’s something special about gathering around a table with good company, colorful fabric, and a shared purpose. This September, we’re delighted to continue to host the Saguache Sagebrush Quilters for a quilting retreat from September 24–27.
The Sagebrush Quilters are a longstanding part of the Saguache community, having come together for nearly two decades. While they love the creativity and companionship that quilting brings, their work carries an even deeper purpose: giving back to their community.
The group creates comfort quilts for people in need, including those who are ill, recovering from surgery, or grieving the loss of a loved one. They also make special nap quilts for local preschool children, giving young students something warm and comforting to enjoy at school before eventually taking their quilts home.
Over the years, the Sagebrush Quilters have become a familiar presence at local community events, sharing their work through quilt shows, bazaars, and the annual Saguache Fall Festival & Quilt Show. Their beautiful handmade quilts reflect not only creativity and craftsmanship, but also the generosity and care woven into each piece.
If you happen to be in Saguache on Saturday, September 19, you can also see the Sagebrush Quilters’ work at the 33rd Annual Saguache Fall Festival & Quilt Show. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature vendors, artists, food, live music, and the beautiful quilts created by local quilters.

Treat yourself to the healing vibrations of AURA TUNE.
Avery Runner works with microtonal frequencies for tuning the nervous system, entraining brainwave patterns and generally improving energy and oxygen flow in bodily cell functions.
Tuning forks, Himalayan bowls and quartz oscillators are selected for specific calibration to Planetary Frequencies.
Applying advanced knowledge of the energetic structure of the human biofield, Avery addresses areas of the light body which exhibit dissonance when scanned by tuning forks. Subtle nuances in the response of a pure tone frequency, grants clues into what areas of the energy body need attention.
Additional aspects of personal healing are illuminated in each session depending on areas that respond most stubborn to the treatment, granting individual insights to where you may continue to develop.
With an ever growing arsenal of shamanic sound tools and custom instruments designed for the healing arts, AURA TUNE sessions are always evolving to meet developing healing requirements.
