Jimminy July!

Our Tipis

Did you know we have the Tipis back up for the warm months of April through October? If you are looking for a glamping option, they are perfect and spacious.
A tipi is a cone-shaped dwelling that was designed by various Native American tribes.
In hot weather, simply open the smoke flaps. The structure of the tipi is several straight wooden poles tied in a cone shape with a spread-out base. A wrap, made up of canvas, hide, or even birch bark, is lifted along with the last pole placed (called the Lift Pole) and laced together around the front.
Tipis are not very good at retaining heat. Their funnel shape paired with the way they are pitched and the smoke hole at the top creates a natural draft, sucking in air from below and forcing it out the top. This is a great feature when the weather is warm! That is also why we take them down in the cold months.

Our tipis come equipped with mats and four cots, and can sleep a maximum of six. They are fun, simple, and boast incredible views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
Bring your sleeping gear and connect with the beautiful San Luis Valley.

New Additions: Flags & Birdhouses
Have you noticed the beautiful new flags we have flying? They were created and installed by Brian, who is here helping us with the property with his expertise.

If you have a few minutes, the next time you visit, look up! Some of the flags have beautiful messages to inspire and uplift!
Birdhouses
We also added some new birdhouses in the left lot. There are a bunch of them! We added some benches that you may sit at, to take it all in.

Dark Sky Dates

Below, we have included a list of dates you may wish to observe for dark sky viewing.
- July 10 – Full Moon / Buck Moon
- July 24 – New Moon
- July 29 – 30 – Delta Aquarid meteor shower peak
There’s nothing like the wonder of a constellation-filled sky, with celestial bodies lighting up the night. And when it comes to stargazing, that’s the only type of light you want to see. Areas with little to no light pollution are sought for clear viewing opportunities. Special steps include adding shielding units to outdoor lights so that light is being directed down and not up, minimizing blue lights, and limiting the luminance levels from area signage, to name a few. DarkSky identifies places with high-quality nighttime environments and advocates for conservation and managing outdoor lighting to help protect these areas and keep them enjoyable for stargazing.
